President Trump Calls Relatives of Injured National Guard Soldiers to the White House
Former President Trump stated on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the White House.
He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.
Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting
Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Vigils across the state have been held in their remembrance.
White House Invitation
The president said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with Andrew, whether he recovers or not.”
Public Reaction
Attendees assembled over the weekend at Webster County high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.
Both they had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to assist law enforcement in DC.
Honoring Beckstrom
“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,” Hankins, the principal of her previous school, told the media. “She was sweet, compassionate and always ready to support those in need.”
Funeral details for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Steps and Government Adjustments
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The event prompted the administration to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.
Condition of the Airman
The airman, a native of the city, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, as reported by the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Morrisey mentioned on television.
The state’s top lawyer Bondi stated on a news show that she aimed to visit Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County High in June 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with excellence, per the military.
“She had a lot of compassion and she absolutely had fortitude,” the governor addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to last forever.”
