Ex- British Broadcasting Corporation Specialists Undergo Members of Parliament's Inquiry In the Wake of Assertions of Partiality in Disclosed Document
We open with questions from Conservative MP Caroline Dinenage, that leads the panel.
She opens by offering background to the disclosed document prepared by Michael Prescott and published in the Telegraph.
"It is not my wish for the British Broadcasting Corporation leaning in any particular direction, I simply desire it neutral, fair and equitable," he states.
Upon being questioned whether he believes the BBC is institutionally biased, he responds: "No I don't. Let's be clear, a great deal the British Broadcasting Corporation produces is world class - encompassing documentary and fictional programming."
Nevertheless, he states: "There remains substantial tasks that must be undertaken at the BBC."
The second former external British Broadcasting Corporation consultant interviewed by the panel, Caroline Daniel, says she takes the BBC very seriously and that it operates a "persistent practice and lively discussion" on evolving and intricate topics.
"Whether the BBC was prepared to conduct a genuine discussion and argument and implement changes?" she asks herself. "From my perspective, affirmative, they were."
