US entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in popular programs such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at 60 years old.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles on Monday after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, as reported by media reports.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - only friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a message.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".
A Prolific TV Career
His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on "Murphy Brown" between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a party host known to delegate burdensome jobs to his guests.
During the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on a variety of popular shows, including:
- King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", starring in eight series over nearly a decade.
His work in movies are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Beyond his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was part of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.
"Pat coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and it would be difficult to find someone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his loved ones expressed.
Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind noted there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote on social media.
Pat Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
