Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Showdown Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays advanced to their maiden World Series following 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the ALCS.

Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning, guiding the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a four games to three win in the series. Next up are the defending champions, the team that is the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.

"I'm thrilled for this squad, the city, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that won the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now hit twenty-three post-season home runs, placing him third on the list trailing only Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"I can't think of another player in the world that I'd prefer in that moment other than him with his playoff prowess," remarked Schneider.

Seattle's team, who had led the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Manager Dan Wilson said "there's no question that it's painful" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but commended their efforts throughout the year.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we ended up on the losing end of the series," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the championship on both previous visits in 1992 and '93, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on the upcoming Friday.
